Auction market kicks up a gear

Auction market kicks up a gear

Last weekend was Melbourne’s first big auction weekend for 2015 and despite the heat the market passed the test with flying colours. The REIV is reporting a clearance rate of 76 per cent was achieved from a total of 852 reported auctions. The clearance rate for houses only was even higher at 81 per cent.

Property researchers the Domain Group noted both the “underlying strength in the market” and the rising influence of family-home buyers who are snapping up knock-down properties with a view to building a new home of their own.

Next weekend boasts an even bigger auction line up with 1470 properties set to go under the hammer.

When the market starts to get crowded, it’s essential that your agent does all that they can to lift your property to the top of the pack. Tailored marketing techniques that target qualified buyers who are in a position to pay the right price for your property can have a significant influence on the likelihood of competitive bidding at auction and compelling offers during a private sale campaign.
