Melbourne basking in national glory yet again

Melbourne basking in national glory yet again

How glorious did Victoria’s capital city look on Grand Final weekend?

With the sun beaming brightly over the MCG on Saturday, and local team the Hawthorn Hawks winning the coveted AFL trophy, you couldn’t help feel proud of this great city and its people. According to ticket sales, a massive 98,632 fans turned out for the biggest game of the footy calendar and, by all counts, the atmosphere was friendly and respectful.

I was also delighted to learn this week that Melbourne is officially Australia’s strongest property market.

CoreLogic RP Data’s September Home Value Indices reveals Melbourne recorded 7.4% house value growth in the three-month period from July 1 to September 30.

This makes it the best performing capital in the nation. Next strongest were Sydney – its housing market grew in value by 4.6% – and Brisbane, by 1.9%. Weakest was Hobart, which lost value of 2%.

According to the data from the Real Estate Institute of Victoria, in September there were more than 3,700 auctions reported including 2,780 auction sales. That’s a super strong clearance rate of 74.5%, which again proves just how effective a well-run auction sale campaign can be in terms of achieving desirable results for both vendors and buyers.
