The final weekend of March was always going to be action packed.
A quick round-up of results across Melbourne’s sports and property industries highlights we have not been disappointed.
AFL season 2017 kicked-off to perfect warm autumn temperatures.
The historic first round match-up of old-rivals Carlton and Richmond got things going on Thursday night.
On this occasion, the Tigers took the spoils.
The season began in just the right spirit. Fans were enthusiastic and well-behaved. Players, rested and raring to go were truly explosive to watch.
Eyes also found Port Phillip Bay this weekend as the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix roared to life.
Thousands descended on Albert Park Lake and surrounds and it was thrilling to see streets around our office in Montague Street packed with smiling visitors.
They will return home this week impressed with our inner-city suburbs, outdoorsy lifestyle and, dare I say it, friendly community and appealing streetscapes.
Some may have even collected an extra special souvenir – a property title – if latest results from property data collectors are any indication.
In the week, ending Sunday March 26, there 1,601 scheduled auctions across Melbourne, the second biggest volume in 2017.
Of the 1,391 reported results, 79.9% sold, according to CoreLogic, while the Real Estate Institute of Victoria put that figure higher, at 82% of its 1,171 reported auctions.
Regardless of the source of one’s sales figures, the message is uniform: Melbourne property is a winner by every measure this year.
